A leader has 3 key responsibilities:
- Focus: define success, channel energy, clear accountability, lay down and communicate the strategy, make sure people don’t do insecurity work ( reference: Scott Belsky in The Messy mMiddle ), defines and communicates timelines and priorities.
- Fire: Instills motivation in the team. Defines what’s the team’s purpose?/theme of the project, consequences of work at hand.
- Function: Determines the how? : Makes sure if the team has resources for their work, have clear designed and articulated path to success. Defines the what? : Makes sure the team has materials to implement, tangible stuff, and gets buy in from stakeholders.
